Highlighted Service – Biomedical Equipment

Whether your facility is a private practice physician office, surgery center, freestanding clinic or major medical center, ENTECH has the expertise to service any of your clinical devices. Many of our biomedical technicians have decades of experience to ensure we can maintain and repair (if needed) all of your biomedical equipment, from the simplest to the most complex. ENTECH is also an authorized service provider for Midmark products, including Ritter sterilizers, which streamlines the customer service process even more. Meet the Tech - Benjamin Stepp

Ben Stepp and family

Benjamin Stepp was born in Phoenix, Arizona (an actual Arizona native) and graduated from Peoria High School 1999. After graduating, he attended Northern Arizona University for about a year, pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, but then decided to enlist in the Navy in May of 2000 as a Hospital Corpsman.

It was pretty obvious that Ben would pursue a medical and/or military career since he comes from a long line of family members who were either in the military or the medical field, including both of his parents who are in the medical field. He always knew that he would be a part of one or both of those careers during his lifetime. As a child, he enjoyed taking things apart and rebuilding them, so it was only natural that he would be involved in equipment repair. However, like a lot of biomed technicians who manage to get into the field, Ben didn’t know that he could turn his talent for fixing things into a career in clinical equipment services. When he was assigned to his first post at a Duty Station at Camp Kinser in Okinawa, Japan, that’s when it clicked.

Upon his return to the states, Ben attended the Biomed School at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas. He graduated with honors in April of 2003 and was then transferred to the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California. In August of 2003, he was deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba for three months to assist as a biomed at the Naval Hospital and the detention center on the island. His military career included many more deployments:

2005 – Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia
Biomed for a minor Surgical Hospital
Trained Georgian medical personnel on procedures and techniques

June 2007 – Al Taqadum, Iraq
Attached to 4th Medical Battalion
Supported the maintenance and repair of medical equipment at multiple medical facilities across Iraq

June-July 2009 – Benin, Africa
Worked with and trained Benin Troops

Between these assignments, he transferred to the Naval Reserves in 2006 and moved back to Phoenix.  Consequently, he started working at Entech/Banner Health in November of 2006 as a biomedical technician. Following his deployment in Iraq, he returned to Entech in May of 2008. In December of 2009, he was assigned as the on-site biomed for Entech’s customer Summit Healthcare and moved to Showlow, Arizona where the hospital system is located. While working at Entech, Ben completed his education and received a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Systems Technologies from Southern Illinois University in 2011. In February of 2012, Ben moved back to Phoenix and began training and specializing in CVOR equipment, like heart lung bypass and coagulation analyzers. He also trained in Phaco emulsifiers.

Just recently, Ben was promoted to Biomedical Technician Supervisor for Entech. Ben is married and has a 3-year-old son with a second child on the way (due in August). Like many other technicians at Entech, Ben enjoys hunting, fishing, participating in various sports and challenges, like sky diving, disk golf, Tough Mudder, mountain biking, running and snorkeling. He also enjoys going on cruises with his family.

Other News

Entech recently hired two new technicians. Kyle Wagner was an imaging tech assistant at Banner Baywood Hospital and has over 11 years of experience in the medical field. Upon graduating from DeVry with a degree in Biomedical Engineering, he decided to pursue a job as a Biomed Tech II with ENTECH. He will be working out of the main office. 

Promden Hak is from Cambodia originally and moved to Arizona when he was just two years old. Promden has been in the biomedical field for about eight years now, starting at Hill-Rom Biomedical depot repair center and then worked at Phoenix Children’s Hospital after that. He is a Biomed Tech II and will be working out of ENTECH’s main office.

Healthcare is a very dynamic industry and it’s important to keep informed and up to date on changes that may affect how we do business.
